Big happenings are happening

Well, I’ll be damned!

Remembrance Day was the one year anniversary for this blog…and I forgot…the irony is killing me.

Anyways, I thought I’d celebrate by sharing something different. I’ve said before I should get into the practice of taking my camera everywhere I go, and I’ve been pretty good with it. Something I’ve also been doing since October is I’ve been taking a workshop-y type class at the Art Gallery of Ontario once a week. It’s been great meeting other photographers, sharing ideas and getting the creative juices flowing. It’s pushed me to photograph outside of my comfort zone and beyond—that’s never a bad thing.

I’ve started seeing things differently—the small details usually overlooked have been grabbing my attention.

Here are just some of the photos I’ve been taking weekly at the AGO.

Person or sculpture?

It’s a sculpture by Evan Penny in his exhibit “Re Figured” at the AGO. It’s pretty awesome and this particular piece is a sculpture he did of his future self.

Shooting at night may be my favourite thing ever. There’s just something about city lights at night that gets me excited.

I’m not great at directing models—I guess because I’m not particularly bossy. It’s hard when I know how I want the picture to look or the feeling I want the photo to show, but when it comes down to it I struggle to put it into words. At the same time it’s nice to have the freedom to just shoot and inspiration follows.
